Check stockWhat Loctite SF 7063 is for
The cleaner named in the directions on almost every Loctite product we stock. Anaerobics and cyanoacrylates both depend on a clean, grease-free surface — an unclean or partly cleaned joint is one of the commonest reasons a bond underperforms. SF 7063 is a non-CFC solvent blend that flashes off in under 60 seconds and leaves nothing behind, so the adhesive can go straight on.
Key features
- Non-CFC solvent formulation
- Dries in under 60 seconds at 20°C — no waiting around
- Leaves no residue; no effect on cure speed or final adhesive strength
- Also used for general degreasing of machine components in maintenance
- Very low viscosity at 2 mPa·s — penetrates and runs off
- Specific gravity 0.74
Technical data
Product data

Effect on the adhesive
| Cure speed | No effect |
| Final strength | No effect |
| What it does | Provides a clean surface for good adhesion and cure |
| Why it matters | Unclean or partly cleaned surfaces reduce adhesive performance |
How to use it
- Spray the surface, or wipe it with a solvent-soaked paper towel.
- Wipe while still wet with a clean cloth to lift heavy contamination. If needed, spray again and let the product run off.
- Repeat if necessary.
- Let it evaporate fully before bonding — trapped solvent in the bond line will spoil the joint.
- Apply the adhesive immediately after drying and assemble.
Handling and storage
- Classified as highly flammable — handle and store in compliance with local regulations.
- Keep the product and its vapour away from naked flame and any electrical equipment that is not flameproof.
- The solvent can affect certain plastics and coatings — check compatibility before use.
- Do not store near oxidising agents or combustible materials.
- Store unopened and dry, ideally 8°C to 21°C.
- Do not return decanted product to the original container.
Cleaner or activator — which do you need?
They do opposite jobs. SF 7063 cleans and has no effect on cure speed; use it on every joint. SF 7471 and SF 7649 are activators that speed up anaerobic cure on passive metals, in large gaps, or below 15°C. Most jobs need the cleaner; only some need an activator. If a threadlocker is curing too slowly on stainless, the answer is an activator, not more cleaner.
