The activator with the longer working window and the water approvals. Like SF 7471 it speeds anaerobic cure on passive metals, in large gaps and below 15°C — but parts stay activated for 30 days rather than seven, and it is certified to NSF/ANSI 61 for potable water to 82°C. That makes it the activator for water systems and food-processing areas.
Key features
- Speeds anaerobic cure on passive metals and inert surfaces
- 30-day on-part life — activate a batch now, bond later
- Certified to ANSI/NSF Standard 61 for potable water to 82°C (a regional approval)
- Registered to NSF Category P1 for food processing areas (a regional approval)
- Particularly recommended below 15°C
- Fixtures degreased steel in ≤30 seconds with Loctite 326, single-side activation
- Dries in 30–70 seconds at 20°C
Typical applications
- Slow-cure surfaces
- Cold conditions

Performance
Fixture time is the time to develop 0.1 N/mm² shear strength.
| Fixture time, degreased steel with Loctite 326, single-side activation | ≤30 seconds |
| Note | Fixture time depends on the adhesive and the substrate |
Approvals
| NSF / ANSI 61 | Potable water systems to 82°C (regional approval) |
| NSF Category P1 | Sealant use around food processing areas where there is no possibility of food contact (regional approval) |
How to use it
- Spray or brush the activator onto both mating surfaces. For small gaps, treating one surface may be enough.
- Contaminated surfaces may need repeated treatment or degreasing first. Porous surfaces may need two treatments.
- Let the solvent evaporate under good ventilation until the surfaces are completely dry.
- Apply the anaerobic product to one or both surfaces and assemble immediately.
- Bond within one month of activating, and keep the surfaces clean in the meantime.
- Where possible, move the surfaces against each other for a few seconds on assembly to distribute the adhesive and maximise activation.
Handling and storage
- Classified HIGHLY FLAMMABLE — store accordingly and keep away from oxidising agents and combustible materials.
- Light sensitive — keep translucent containers in a dark place when not in use.
- Never mix activator and adhesive directly as liquids.
- Use only in a well-ventilated area. Keep the product and its vapour away from naked flame and non-flameproof electrical equipment.
- The solvent can affect certain plastics and coatings — check compatibility before use.
- Where aqueous washing systems are used before bonding, check the wash is compatible with the adhesive; some affect cure and performance.
- Store unopened and dry, ideally 8°C to 21°C. Do not return decanted product to the container.
The surface preparation range
Three products, three jobs. SF 7063 is the cleaner — use it before every bond; it has no effect on cure speed, it simply gives the adhesive a surface to work on. SF 7471 and SF 7649 are activators that accelerate anaerobic cure on stainless, plated and inert metals, in wide gaps, or in the cold. Between the two activators: 7649 for potable water and food-plant work, and where parts sit for up to a month between activating and bonding; 7471 otherwise.
